My paintings are translations of my experience of being in and in relationship to the landscape - sensory responses to colour, matter, light and memory.

I grew up in a wild, beautiful part of North Wales. The forms and energy of that landscape are deeply imprinted and come instinctively when I paint. I'm interested in the idea of the language of landscape and the reciprocal nature of the encounter with place.

In Welsh the word 'Hiraeth' captures something of that sense of kinship, connection with and longing for place and belonging.

I work on wood, paper, perspex and canvas - each material brings a different quality to the painting.

Her paintings have a sense of the merging of inner and outer landscapes and the familiarity of unknown remembered places.Painting is a responsive process of translation and connection - exploring the language of landscape and  the reciprocal nature of our encounters with place in time.
